Dave ‘Doc’ Reid – Rhythm Guitar, Vocals
Doc has been playing music since he was 6, starting with piano, then guitar, harmonica, and mandolin. He learned to sing in the church choir and developed rhythm guitar proficiency playing country, blues, folk and rock by the Eagles, Gordon Lightfoot, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, John Prine and Merle Haggard. In 2008 with the help of good friend and drummer Larry Wallace, he formed his first band and started hosting a weekly jam session that is still going today. In 2017 Metaphor Dogs was formed with his wife, singer-songwriter Anne Moriarty.
Anne Moriarty – Singer – Songwriter
Anne says she has been singing ever since she could talk, with her first songs at age 6 titled “I Have 11 1/2 Friends” and “The Bear Girl Goes out to Play”. Her early life was full of theatre, training in dance and musical comedy, and writing poetry, influenced by the likes of Jacques Brell. She joined Dave ‘Doc Reid and created Metaphor Dogs, learning guitar, writing songs, and singing in a wide variety of styles; jazz, country, blues, folk and global music (French & Spanish) to name just a few.
Dave ‘Flembo’ Fleming – Lead Guitar
Dave has played guitar most of his life, a career that has taken
him to venues all over the world. His command of guitar
techniques comes from a formal music education and constant
attention to detail. A strong foundation of country, blues, rock and
jazz along with his extensive guitar collection allows him to
produce striking and memorable music that is an asset to our band.
Peter DeVries – Bass
Of Peter’s 48 years of musical experience, he has spent the last 20 years playing in bands. The influences of the the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Frank Zappa, Sex Pistols, and Funk Brothers has refined his bass skills. His P-Bass (customised vintage slender neck) bass is perfectly suited to playing in classic and punk rock, country and jazz genres.
Mark McGovern – Drums
Mark has been playing music for 45 years as a drummer, guitar player and singer. He has been playing professionally since 1980 with country, new wave, rock and pop bands. Influenced by artists Charlie Watts, Stewart Copeland, John Bonham, Ringo Star, the Eagles, Beatles and Rolling Stones, his ’57 Gretsch drums and skills suit our mix of country, rock and pop tunes.
